Welcome back!

I hope you all had a lovely half term and have lots of exciting news to share.
This term our topic is Light and dark, so we will be doing lots of different activities to investigate different light sources and think about why we need light.
In Literacy we will be looking closely at traditional tales, focusing on the Gingerbread man and Hansel & Gretel. Our main focus in Literacy this term is to work on writing our sentences independently.

The maths KIRF (Key Instant Recall Facts) this term is for you to learn the days of the week, months of the year and the seasons within the year.
Here are a few websites that might help you learn these:

Also, please keep learning your number bonds to 5 and then to 10, as these are really important to know. Useful websites for learning these include:

We had amazing first term and I am sure this term will be even better!

Thank you
Miss Waterworth

We have had such a busy few weeks!

We have been extremely busy at school over the last few weeks. Here are just a few things we have been up to:

- We explored all the physical features around Selby on our walk and even had time to pop into the greengrocers where Miss Waterworth and Mrs O'Neil treated us to a piece of fruit each. On our walk we found one of Prince Pug's friends called Sherlock who had got lost, we are going to make him a map of Selby so he doesn't get lost again.

- We took part in the Harvest festival and showed off our amazing fruit and vegetable mobiles.

- In our DT lessons we had lots of fun making some yummy fruit kebabs.

- In Literacy we have been looking at Peace at Last and spent some time showing off our acting and drama skills to retell the story.

- Over the last term we have been learning about different insects in French and in PE we played different games where we had to move like the different insects, which was very funny to watch.

It has been a fantastic first half term filled with lots of fun and learning.

Prince Pug's Birthday

Happy Birthday to Prince Pug who turned 1 yesterday.
The children really love Prince Pug and spoilt him yesterday. We made him birthday cards, bought him a birthday cake and sung Happy Birthday to him!
We think he had a wonderful day!

The Incredibles

P.S. We also won the 100% attendance award for last week which meant we won a treasure chest full of sweet treats!

European Languages Day

We all had a fantastic day on Thursday, doing lots of things based on the country of Greece.
In the morning we made a yummy Greek salad full of lots of delicious healthy vegetables that we got to taste. We all loved the feta cheese!

After lunch we looked at the Greek flag and we all got to make our own, which was brilliant!
We listened to the story of Medusa who was so mean that the Greek gods made her have snakes instead of hair and we had a bowl of Medusa 'snakes' to play with.
We watched some videos of Greek dancing and plate smashing and decided we would all like to have a go, so we each designed our own paper plate to 'smash'.
Miss Waterworth taught us some Greek words for Hello and Thankyou, which we were all really good at saying! Ya-sas - hello Ef-hari-sto- thank you.

During the afternoon we all got to taste our finished Greek salad and we also tried some lovely Greek yoghurt and honey, which most of us loved. After we had done so much eating we thought it was time to do some exercise and went into the hall to do some Greek dancing to the song called Zorbas. We had lots and lots of fun and at the end we all got to 'smash' our plates.

By the end of the day we were all exhausted (especially Miss Waterworth and Mrs O'Neil) and ready for a rest.

The Incredibles

P.S have a look at our photos to see just how much fun we had!
